  3. Print the chart, lay out the beads row by row and iron.

Sizing for pegboards

One large square Perler pegboard is 29×29 beads, about 14.5 cm (5.7 in). Choosing a width that is a multiple of 29 lets you snap boards together without a partial row. The tool shows the board count for your size.

Fewer colours, cleaner sprites

Bead art looks best with flat colours. Start around 8–12 colours and keep dithering off; a 1-bead outline in a dark colour makes characters pop.

FAQ

How do I make a Perler bead pattern from a picture?

Upload the picture, set the width in beads and the number of colours, and the tool maps every square to a real Perler colour with bead counts. Print or follow it on screen.

Is this Perler pattern maker free?

Yes — the pattern, bead counts and PNG are free with no sign-up. PDFs up to 60×60 beads are always free, plus your first larger PDF; after that $2.99 per photo or $7.99 for 30 days.

How many beads are in a Perler pattern?

Width × height minus empty background squares. The materials list gives the exact total and the count per colour.

Can I use mini beads?

The colour chart is for midi (5 mm) beads. For mini beads use the same pattern; the finished size is about half.
