Knitting pattern generator

In short: Generate a knitting colourwork pattern from a photo for a sweater front, pillow or hat motif. Set your gauge and how many colours you will knit, and the generator gives a chart, written rows and yarn estimates. Start with 2–3 colours for stranded work; intarsia handles more. Free: unlimited on-screen patterns, colour key, materials list and PNG chart download. PDFs up to 60×60 are always free, plus your first full-size PDF; after that a larger print-ready PDF is $2.99 per photo, or $7.99 for 30 days of unlimited PDFs.

FAQ

What is the easiest way to knit a picture?

Duplicate stitch over plain stockinette: knit the piece plain, then embroider the chart on top. Use the chart from this generator as the map.
