Turn any photo into a cross stitch, bead, crochet or knitting pattern
In short: Stitchloom turns any photo into a craft pattern in your browser: cross stitch (real DMC and Anchor floss), Perler, Hama and Artkal beads, C2C and tapestry crochet graphs, knitting charts, diamond painting, brick mosaics and string art. Free with no sign-up and no watermark: the chart, colour key, materials list (CSV), PNG, an OXS file for Pattern Keeper and other cross stitch apps, printable PDFs up to 60×60 and your first full-size PDF. Bigger PDFs cost $2.99 per photo or $7.99 for 30 days unlimited. Your photo never leaves your device.

How Stitchloom compares
We keep an honest, dated comparison of the popular pattern makers — free limits, brands, export formats and price — on the best photo-to-pattern makers.
Questions
Is this photo to pattern maker really free?
Yes. Making the pattern, editing colours, the colour key, materials list, row-by-row instructions and a PNG chart are free with no account and no watermark, and so are PDFs up to 60×60 stitches and your first full-size PDF. After that a larger printable PDF costs $2.99 for one photo or $7.99 for 30 days of unlimited PDFs — a one-off payment, not a subscription.
Which thread and bead brands are supported?
Cross stitch uses the full DMC stranded cotton range or Anchor. Beads use Perler, Hama midi or Artkal S. Crochet and knitting use common worsted acrylic yarn shades, diamond painting uses DMC drill codes and brick mosaics use standard 1×1 plate colours. You can swap any colour by hand.
Do you upload my photo?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser, so your photo stays on your device. Only anonymous usage counts (e.g. “pattern made”) are recorded.
How big can the pattern be?
Up to 400 stitches, beads or blocks across. The tool shows the finished size for your fabric count, pegboard or gauge, and how many skeins, beads or yarn metres you need.
What is in the PDF?
A cover with the preview and size, a colour key with symbols, brand codes and how much to buy, the chart split across pages with bold 10-lines and centre arrows (symbols, or symbols on colour), and written row-by-row instructions for crochet and knitting. Letter or A4.
Can I open the pattern in Pattern Keeper or another cross stitch app?
Yes. Cross stitch patterns download as a free OXS file, the open chart format that Pattern Keeper, KG-Chart, Ursa Software MacStitch/WinStitch and other stitch apps import, with the DMC or Anchor numbers and symbols kept.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Upload from your camera roll, pinch the preview and download the PNG or PDF straight to your phone.
