Needlepoint pattern maker
In short: Make a needlepoint chart from a photo: each square is one tent stitch on canvas, matched to a DMC colour, with symbols and a full key. Set the mesh (10, 13, 14 or 18) to see the finished size; the background is stitched by default because needlepoint usually covers the whole canvas. Free: unlimited on-screen patterns, colour key, materials list and PNG chart download. PDFs up to 60×60 are always free, plus your first full-size PDF; after that a larger print-ready PDF is $2.99 per photo, or $7.99 for 30 days of unlimited PDFs.

Needlepoint vs cross stitch charts
The chart is the same grid — one square per stitch — but needlepoint covers every hole of the canvas, so keep the background on. For wool, use the DMC numbers in the key as a colour reference when choosing tapestry wool shades.
FAQ
Can I use a cross stitch chart for needlepoint?
Yes. Each square becomes one tent stitch instead of a cross. Size = stitches ÷ canvas mesh.
What mesh should I use?
13 or 14 mesh is the most common for pictures; 18 mesh gives finer detail; 10 mesh works up quickly with wool.
How much thread do I need for needlepoint?
Tent stitch uses roughly the same thread per stitch as a half cross. Use the skein numbers as an upper bound and add a skein for the background.
